Obituary for Dr. Louis Fuertes Boynton, II
Dr. Louis Fuertes Boynton II, 57, of Newnan passed away Sunday, June 29th, 2025 at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. He was born September 29th, 1967, in Massapequa, New York, to Frances Christine Boynton and the late Louis Fuertes Boynton. He is survived by his daughter, Sophie; his former spouse, Sarah; his son-in-law, Peyton; his grandsons, Heath and Kayce; and his siblings, Christine, Carol, and Tim, as well as extended family and numerous friends. The list of people who loved him goes on and on. Louis was an incredibly kind, compassionate man who managed to help everyone he met in some way.
Louis grew up between two islands, living in both Kailua, HI, and Massapequa, NY, as a child. He was also briefly in Tehran, an experience cut short by the Iranian Revolution. He graduated from Massapequa High School in 1985. As a young man, he frequented CBGB's and worked as a cook in New York. He specialized in banquets, sometimes feeding up to 1000 people at a time.
Feeding people is something he would carry with him for the rest of his life. If Louis ever cooked for you, it was love. Louis' life changed profoundly with the birth of his and Sarah's daughter Sophie in 1998, whom he loved more than anything. Soon after her birth he began his battle with Crohn's disease, a chronic condition he fought for many years. In moments of better health, he completed his graduate studies at the University of West Georgia and holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology, in Consciousness and Society. While completing his studies, Louis was instrumental in designing disaster relief protocols for various organizations and was an avid researcher. As part of his training, he led the admissions team at Willowbrooke at Tanner and facilitated trained sessions as an inpatient and outpatient psychotherapist. In 2016 he opened his own psychotherapy practice in Newnan, GA, where he lived for over 20 years. His expertise was in helping people develop resilience against the problems we all face, like addiction, trauma, loss, depression, and anxiety.
Louis lived a life of service. Health, harmony, and happiness were hisraison d'être. Flourishing was his way of achieving the good life. Aromatherapy, a short walk, a good meal and an honest chat were his favorite tools. He believed his patients mattered and he did his best to help them live their lives to the fullest. Louis flourished. Louis mattered. He loved being a grandfather to his grandsons, Heath and Kayce, whom he adored. Food and travel were often on his mind. He loved oysters, pickled shrimp, Jean-Paul Sartre and tailored three-piece suits. The world won't be the same without him but his memory will live on forever.
